new tasty snack!

Post  gwen on Wed May 27, 2009 12:47 am

While we were in Utah, my SIL took me to a sushi restaurant for the first time...... gross

Sushi is SO not my thing! Omg! To make matters worse, I had to eat it with chopsticks, so I looked like a total fool, smashing these little sushi rolls in the process. And my SIL informs me that you have to place the entire roll in your mouth when you eat it, because they fall apart otherwise. I have a small mouth. So my gag reflex is set off because it's stuffed with food AND because what it's stuffed with is nastier than nasty.

Anyway...I'm getting off subject hehehe For appetisers, they brought out these things that looked like snap peas. I hate snap peas as well. So I'm thinking this whole meal is shot. My SIL tells me that they are soybeans that have been boiled or steamed and sprinkled with sea salt. You have to take the seeds out of the pod. OMG! They were SOOOOOOOOO good! I already have soy because I don't have dairy anymore. But these things were awesome! When we got back, I bought a bag in the frozen section. All you do is take a pot of water and bring it to a boil. Then add the soybeans. Bring that to a boil, and let it boil 5 minutes. Drain the water and put in a bowl and sprinkle with sea salt. Seriously tasty snack ya'll! Lol!

Here's what it looks like (they're called Edamame-soybeans):

i love edamame! i also love sushi though lol! you should try some of the smaller ones and stick to veggie ones to start off. a lot of people have a hard time with the raw fish.

they sell them at costco in packages that you can just microwave and they are ready to go. when i'm too lazy to make a lunch for work i just bring those with me. lol

I LOVE edamame. I too, also love sushi. When we eat chinese food we always go to a restaraunt that has a sushi bar for me. I don't eat with chopsticks though. I don't know how. I just eat it with my fingers. WTF I don't care.
